Her, anybody have any experience on replacing the USB port on the D7000 camera body or a repair shot that won’t cost more than the camera is worth? Thanks.

I know this may sound stupid, but what are you using it for?

most likely the connections are soldered to a circuit board, which would require specialized equipment to replace. There is a remote chance it connected via a cable. However looking at pictures of the ports, the way they are aligned, the only way, is to replace the entire motherboard

Having problems using SD card for upgrades on Win 10. I can get upgrades to download on the computer but can not transfer the info on the card. So, I thought the USB might be another route. Contacted a repair shop and they stated not possible. So any thoughts of selling the body are probably up in smoke.

Sell it on eBay "As is, or "For Parts." People buy and sell broken cameras all the time.

Call Nikon repair and ask, you’ve got nothing to loose. They may include a clean and lube in the service...

While the D7000 is a nice camera, it is so old that replacing the USB port is probably not worth the trouble. Look at KEH or some of the other places (Adorama and B&H) for used D7000 cameras. I bought a D7000 for my wife a year or so ago and it cost me about $250 and was (is) in excellent shape. The current price seems to run between $100 and $350 depending on grade. It will probably cost that or more to replace the USB and then you still won't know what else you will run into. KEH, Adorama, B&H and others usually provide a warrantee on their used cameras.

I do not think USB is another route. Start over and get some help with what you were trying to do to begin with.
Do not fix or sell or buy a camera yet!

This is an interesting article from Lens Rentals of a Canon R teardown. I know it is not Nikon (Z teardown to come soon) but it discusses solder being used and what a pain it is.

Call Brad at Humble Camera in Humble Texas. He will definitely know the answer and how much it would cost either doing the repairs himself or trough Nikon.
If it's connected to the flexible circuit , it cost me about 225.oo to replace trough Nikon a year ago.
You can get a nice minty D7000 for 350.oo (or less)

The prices are dropping on the D7000 and 7100's, I've seen a lot of really decent prices on them lately - if you want a warranty (and really, if you can get 6 months for a few dollars more, why not) buy from one of the big re-sellers like MPB, KEH, B&H, RobertsUPP, Cameta, Hunt's, etc. E-bay can be OK, but many won't offer returns or warranty.

I believe the most direct (and cheapest) route to an answer has nothing to do with the camera. Figure out what the problem is with the SD card route. It may be something as simple as "Who formatted the card?" (the camera is the correct answer) or allowing Win10 to change something that shouldn't be changed. (I hate the Windows knack of telling you that something is wrong [when it isn't] and that you should allow it to fix things. Windows has always been good at setting its own standard, outside the rest of the world's norm.]

Suggestion: use another computer which is running an older Win version or some different system (Mac or Linux).

Cheers!

I had a similar problem with the camera not be able to update my firmware on a Nikon D810. It just would not read the SD card file. Pictures taken wrote to the card and i could download them, so did not suspect the SD card. I changed SD cards multiple times still no go. Took it to a local repair shop. He put his SD card in and it worked fine. It turned out to be me not using the camera to format the SD card. I just added and deleted the files from the card reader attached to my PC. Once formatted in the camera, downloaded the files and all worked as Nikon intended. This doesn't fix your USB issue, but honestly i don't ever use it.
