I know this subject has been discussed many times in the past, but companies merge, go out of business, models change, etc. I am looking for the simplest, most discreet camera bag available for just a Canon 5D Mk IV with 24-105 f/4 attached, plus a 16 - 35 f/4, and an extra battery and 2 filters. I don't need room for a flash, cables, drinks, etc. Body + lens height is about 7.7 inches. I don't want anything flashy or fancy. I have a Think Tank Retrospective 20 that fits my full 3-lens setup; something like that in a smaller version would be great. The TT Retro 5 seems like it might be too small, and the Retro 7 is still pretty big for just 2 lenses. I don't have a good, full-service camera shop anywhere nearby, so I can't just go and try things on for size.

Thanks for any advice you can offer!

Lowepro has a bagfinder help, where you enter your camera, additional needs (such as batteries, additional lenses) and it'll recommend bags. Perhaps a place to start.

Amazon.com has an “Amazon Basics” camera backpack that will meet your requirements at a really reasonable price.

I like Lowepro. When I need a new bag, I look at them first. Get one slightly larger than you think you'll need, and make sure you have good dividers and enough Velcro inside.

I've been using one of these, in fact three for various cameras and equipment, for about 8 years now.

I second that. Picked up a Lowpro Event Messenger bag last year. Quite functional and well made. Nice low key design that doesn't scream "expensive camera inside".

For discrete check out any major supplier of sporting bags, LLBean, Eddie Bauer, Cabelas/Bass Pro for example and get a back pack, messenger bag or lumbar pack of suitable size, add some OP/Tec equipment covers for camera and lens and your set. I do this quite a bit extra room for jacket, lunch and drink and no one knows I'm carrying a camera until I pull it out.

I use a Crumpler Proper Roady 7500. It takes my 5Div with a 70-200 f/4 and my 24-70 f/4. With a couple of zip pockets there’s room for a couple of spare batteries, card case etc. It’s a compact size with an additional strap which goes around your waist and clips to the bag to keep it close to your body in addition to the shoulder strap. Thoroughly recommended.

Check out Peake Design bags. I have the “Everyday Sling” both the 5L and 10L.

I have used this for over eight years, hiking, vacation, city walks, etc.. it carries my Canon 6D with the 24-70 attached, 70-200 F4 (not sure if the 2.8 would fit) and my 50mm along with spare batteries and cards and sometimes a snack :). I love this thing - it has held up very well and meets my needs perfectly. I even use it as a airline 'personal carryon bag' when I am not dragging 20 lbs of equipment with me.
