You may want to try tea to match the colour of the rare booze or just some less expensive stuff.

If you place a small reflector, made of foil, hidden behind the bottle or the glass, you can nicely trans-illuminate the beverages.

The actual product may look wrong under lighting any way. Many food photos do not use the actual food for various reasons. Like motor oil makes a nice maple syrup or Elmer's glue instead of milk in a bowl, etc...

Just possibly, being kind to the grossly incompetent is why you have an arse clown as leader of
your country.

And not "possibly", but most definitely, the biggest single cause of the "Global Financial Crisis"
is being kind to the grossly incompetent. ie. Lending money to those who can not repay the loans.

Political correctness has been taken too far, and it seems it is being taken ever further as time goes on.

One of the things I loved about UHH was that posts could outspoken, in no uncertain terms to say
the least, without being deleted... Subscribers were left to themselves to support or defend an opinion
verbally... Freedom of speech seemed a part of the constitution of UHH.

Supporting and or defending a position/view/opinion etc verbally was originally the mandate of THE "Forum".

However, now the meaning of "Forum" has been "deleted" too.

UHH is the poorer for it.

Regards,

Alan.

For sure! Just have to remember no to pour the motor oil on you pancakes or accidently make a milkshake with the white glue.

In he U.S. and canada the Federal Trade Commission and the Department Of Consumer and Corporate Affairs, respectively do have some regulations about faking food shots, especially on packaging. You can't ,legally, cook up a beautiful roast beef, slice it, shoot it and print it on a packaging of a "TV frozen dinner" etc. You can show the product at it's best but you can't misrepresent it. In posters, menus, and othere ads- it's kind of a free-for-all.

The food stylists have many tricks of the trade but most of it, nowadays, is clever cooking procedures. We well undercook the poultry and use a browning agent so it won't wrinkle up. You just have to remember to put it back in the oven and finish roasting it if anyone is gonna eat it unless they really want a case of salmonella poisoning. We dip scoops of icecream into a mixture of dry ice and water- keeps it crispy-cold under the lights for a few more minutes. Problem is, if you drop it on the floor it will shatter and if you put in in your mouth- well, you don't wanna know- hospital time! Seems that arsenic (rat poison) has a nice red color that can substitute for wine- never tried it- I'm not into dead assistants! When we shoot food layouts, we have a general rule "DO NOT EAT OR DRINK THE PROPS"!

Alan!

Hi there! I'm the guy that deletedPerha I am breaking my onw rules- you post. The rule in this section is to maintain a high level of decorum and refraining from snide or hurtful remarks when offering opinions and critiques. If you feel that the OP's work is not up to professional or commercial standards, you have a perfect right to state that opinion but "Don't quit your day job" is not constructive or remedial remark. The OP did not say he was immediately embarking on a career in commercial photography. You remarks were not about concept, lighting, composition, product placement or preparation, design, or presentation- nothing technical or artistically relevant to the image in question- just a harsh deriding of the maker. Teaching, critiquing and helping is fine- discouragement is unnecessary and counterproductive.

This section is not a place for political commentary either. There is a "chit-chat" and and "The Attic" that is reserved for all of that. There is lots of verbal combat and vitriol in the main sectio as well- feel free to participate there as well.

Perhaps I am breaking my own (anti-political) rule but- The "leader" you made reference to is not from MY country of residense but essentially, he is a bully, more so than a clown. He campaigned based on bigotry, division and demeaning of his opponents. Unfortunately enough, he was elected, possibly illitigitamatly, however, mistakes occur in the best of societies and systems and his administration will pass. Others may disagree!

You are perfectly welcome to post here as well. You can post you work, teach, learn, request or offer critiques, share and utilize the resource as you see fit. Just stick to the topic and keep it friendly.

Ed
