Somebody pulled up by the pond across from my house and let his dog run. They are supposed to be leashed, but I don't really mind. I went back to what I was doing and then noticed the car was down near the corner with the dog chasing after it. The dog spent some time sniffing around and running in different directions. She was exhausting herself so I gave her some water and meatloaf. She eventually calmed down and turned out to be a really friendly animal. Eventually I had to call animal control who picked her up.
How could anyone abandon such a sweetheart?
There are some nasty people out there.....
Looks like she was hurt. I would have taken her if you were closer. I just lost my dog Casey. Haven’t been without a dog for the last forty years. Now it is too quiet.

I thought her legs were hurt, but that is actually her coloring. The folks from animal control commented on how healthy she looked.

Hi, anyone who would do this to a dog would do the same to a human.Dogs have feelings also.I just lost my dog to liver cancer and had to get another to replace my best friend.I had a cattle dog who died and now have another rescue that is a beagle, she is a doll baby.

Very lovely dog, sad to say but many get a dog like that that is more then they can handle ( having owned one I know first hand how difficult they can be, we have over a acre of back yard fenced but she could clear a 4 ft chain link fence and be gone in a instant )
She was a very loving animal and took a lot of loving and care and lived a good life, she outweight mom and was her baby and wanted in her lap .
Makes you want to find the owner and take them out in middle of nowhere and drop them off and drive away forever.
Bless you for having the kindness to take care of her and see she was given the chance for a new home with a loving caring family .

Bill, some people just should never be allowed to have pets or children. The way they treated this beautiful dog scares me that they may treat children in a similar way. Excellent photo.

Great shot of the poor dog. If the animal cruelty laws had any teeth, this wouldn’t happen as often as it does.

OMG Bill she's beautiful. After just losing one of my Golden's I can't see how someone could abandon a dog.

People can be horrible and it always makes me wonder how anyone could do harm to other people or their pets. It can be a cruel world at times
Thank you for helping her out. She's beautiful and hopefully will find a furever home with people who will love her. I know how hard it is when your pet has so much energy you want to strangle them some days, but that's when you get them into obedience, do different things with them, keep them busy. It's amazing what exercise can do for those dogs that are high drive and NEED to burn some of that energy off. They do slow down eventually, but that is why our shelters are overflowing and pedigree rescues are the same way. Especially the pedigrees, people need to do their research about the certain breed, it's all right there on the internet, read, read, read about taking care of a pet, it's not for everyone and it's a responsibility that shouldn't be taken lightly. Sorry, I'm getting on my soapbox again
Thank you again for helping this sweet girl out.
If NMGal really wants to adopt this dog we should be able to figure out how to get them together. Far better than the shelter destroying it. Hard to know if they’d be compatible, but if NMGal and the shelter thinks it would work wouldn’t it just be a question of dollars. We’d be willing to help.
Such a beautiful pup! I hope your animal shelter has a well run and funded adoption program. This lovely dog won’t have to wait long to be adopted out hopefully.

She's a beauty. Someone will love her and she'll give 10 times the love back!
