I hadn't cropped this at all, so I'll see what I can do via cropping. At least that's an easy thing to do! I was more concerned with the path that was below the rose as I shot it, as it was fully sunlit and light. If it were all green stuff that needed adjustment, I could do that with the green slider. But there's no "beige" slider!

Thanks so much for you input.

Linda's work is excellent. The idea to clean the green bright points along the left margin still applies. Technically, they should be removed from the LR version before heading off to PS, via some simple cloning and healing. But, can be processed at the end just as well. Your watermark doesn't draw my eye, but the green spot just above does, being the reasoning to remove this splotch of color away in the corner (and away from the upper left).

Nice photo! If I were doing something with it, I’d pull down the greens a bit and add a vignette to put more focus on the rose.

[quote=AzPicLady]I found this beautiful rose blooming nicely. However, there was nowhere I could go to actually get a "right" perspective on it. The one I got has sunlit path to the left and bright greenery to the right. I feel it both overpower the flower.

I really like the original that you downloaded. If it were mine, I'd crop some of the top and be very happy!

So, I worked on it. I applied my normal LR stuff (clarity, highlights and blacks down), then went to PS and used NIK's detail enhancer (sort of sorry I did that, I think), then back to LR and applied the graduated neutral density filter from the bottom left upward to the flower.

So did this work sufficiently? Or should I do something else? If you want me to post the original, I can do that.

Thanks. Of course I wouldn't include my copyright notice on any prints I'd make. That's for internet postings only. I'll look at the green just above it as you suggest. I really appreciate your suggestions.

Thank you, Jay. I can tone down the greens easily enough. I never think of vignettes. I'll try one.

Thanks so much for the suggestion. I'll see what a 4x5 format does for it.

I know I am late to the party. But I thought I would try something a bit different.

I understand what you are trying to achieve and Photoshop's layers and masks are your answerer. I fought the layers for years until I just had one project that I really wanted to work. I then studied with the use of YouTube and learned most of the steps. It is an awesome program. I tried to learn with books but failed miserably. When I started to use YouTube it all started to make sense. Some instructors are better than others and repetition is your friend. If you have an iPad you can play a bit of the YouTube stop do it in Photoshop go back to iPad play a bit more back to Photoshop and keep taking baby steps till you get it down. Once you are familiar with it you will love all the options that become available.

I did a version for you using only Photoshop. It might not be for everyone but something I think you might like.

That's really nice. It tones down the greens without changing the luminosity in the flower. I'm going to tackle this again today. It's a dark dreary day, so slugging through an unpleasant task but with a beautiful flower is sort of the thing to do, no?

Rainy day is the perfect time to work on it. Take your time step back and take a break if needed. You have a mission now and a great picture to work on. Remember layers are your friend. I will send you a link with a video that should help.
