I ordered a large 5 in 1 reflector from Amazon, the seller is located in San Francisco. At first, the estimated delivery was anywhere from 8/8/12 to 8/13/12. I ordered on 8/2/12.
On 8/3/12 the tracking showed my package had gone from SF to Sylmar, CA--a nice distance. Estimated delivery still 8/13/12.
As of 4:00 this morning, tracking showed me that my package left Vernon, CA, less than 100 miles from it's final destination. Estimated delivery is Monday before the end of the day.
Does UPS delay shipping for items using ground service?
I'm thinking that I could see my package this afternoon. Would be nice as I am in Victorville at my sister-in-law's place until the 15th. Going down the hill today to take care of a few things and would really like to try out my new toy.
They don't delay on purpose, just that the packages are keyed for delivery in a specific time frame and they can take all that they want.
I find UPS and FedEx get to me quicker than their estimates.

I work for a hospital in Medical Records. I often have to send files to regulatory agencies. I use UPS Campus Ship and would overnight. Hospital policy is to send UPS ground if shipping from SoCal to SoCal as it is overnight anyway....Not always the case.
I find that UPS from Adorama get's to me lightning fast. Shouldn't matter as it's still UPS. Anyway, I'm about to leave for another few days and it doesn't look like I'll be getting a package today.
Too bad--I was looking forward to playing around.
From my experiance, you"ll drive yourself nuts tracking a package with UPS.I live in Southern Illinois, and I tracked a package from Kentucky to Chicago which is 300 miles north of me.They had to have driven right past my exit on I57 to go 300 miles north to finally come back south to me.

Lol.
I once bought something off of Ebay. The seller was within 20 miles of me but would not allow local pickup. I tracked the package(fedex ground) and watched it go from southern california, to Arizona and then a couple of cities once back in California before reaching me.
I live in western PA.
I once orded something from Cal, they sent it via DHL.
10 days later it arrived somewhere in Kentucky and DHL mailed it the rest of the way via USPS.
I wouldn't complain much about UPS, FedEx or Usps. All of them outshine DHL by a long shot when it comes to delivery.

Do you have a link to what you just purchased? I'm looking into reflectors myself.
Just one person's observation:
I'm thinking it was 1995-6. I was working at a gun shop, ordering merchandise from CA for delivery to Las Vegas on a regular basis. I was normally getting next-day delivery by UPS Ground service. All of a sudden, it started taking 3-4 days, and I was seeing alot of ads for UPS Next-Day Air and 2nd Day Air.
Now, obviously as long as I was getting Next Day service and only paying for Ground, I was not going to pay extra for Next Day. They solved that situation for me!
I live in Hawai`i - it's a challenge getting stuff from mainland, esp east coast. Sometimes shipping more than the item.

I ordered this one.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001AWTLPW/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00Was thinking that I would have been happier with two 43" round reflectors, but I may still get one or two at a later date.
