Ha! Someday - it's hard enough to keep enthusiastic about my day job, when all I want to do is master my camera and take pictures all day!

Hi Kerfree, have taken your ice caps 3 and put it into photoshop, where i adjusted the levels, brightness and contrast then saturation. Then used unsharp mask to sharpen it up a little.
I resized the photo and interpolated it for 20"x12" this gives a more panoramic picture with the horizon on the top third and the front rock on the lower third. Hope you like it, will be interested to here your comments

And...........I just checked your website out. You have some really fantastic photos there. Ever tried selling them on Etsy?

Kind words - thank you! Someday, maybe! My enthusiasm for photography is already encroaching my day job, more than it should :)

Wow! Now if I could just do that! I was just now working on it in Aperture. Thank you, Simon! You gave it just what it needed - editing-wise and resizing-wise! I don't suppose I can just download yours, can I? The black and white is really cool too - another decision!!

Kerfree you are more than welcome to use my edited versions, glad you liked them and look forward to seeing more of your work. I know what you mean about trying to hold down a full time job when all you want to do is take photos and talk photography.
We just need more hours in every day

I like ice caps3 the best. The higher contrast gives depth to the whole photo, and interest to the sky. My eyes seem to be magnetically attracted to the center of the photo. It would make a beautiful 18x12 enlargement.
The trees in ice cap are distracting.
Ice caps2 looks flat and overexposed.
Shorecircle does nothing for me.

DRON, I so appreciate your opinion - I may go with Ice Caps 3. My editing skills are a work in progress and these were all a little dark, so for pixels sake an 18 x 12 is probably the right size. Thank you!

Your photo was so nice I tried to give it a night feel by darkening, increasing contrast and increasing red and yellow saturation. I use PE 8.

Absolutely love the sky! Thank you DRON. So today is turning into an amazing tutorial in editing. I've downloaded this thumbnail and the others into Aperture, and am working on achieving similar results. Whatever I have by tonight, I'll have to go with - tomorrow is Monday! Can't thank you enough!

You all are the best! Thank you for sharing your artistic eyes and expertise with me today. Special shout-outs to Creativ Simon and DRON - Thanks to your edited versions, along with clear instructions of your editing process, I think I took my editing to the next step, or at least I know a little more about the process. Anyway I am happy enough with the results that I just ordered a 12x18 print with black matting and a small silver frame from mpix. I think Hannah will love it. I am so appreciative of your generous help - thank you so much!!!

You're welcome. I'm sure she will love it. If I took this photo I would hang an enlargement in my home.

DRON is right, you should be proud of this photo, and if our advise was helpful i am pleased as the whole idea is to help each other to take our passion ( photography ) to the next level. I am sure your friend will be over the moon with her present i know i would be.
Well done

I am a novice student of photography, who is painfully aware that there is plenty of room for improvement in these four images, in fact I've already been thinking about how I will approach this scene differently next winter, starting with off-camera flash! Meanwhile though, a friend is asking for a 16-20 enlargement of any one of these.
Questions:
1. Which one shall it be? Or, to put it in photo lingo, composition-wise, which one of these images is most pleasing?
2. Are these images too dark to salvage for enlargements?
3. How can they be improved in post-processing? (I use Aperture 3)

Gear: Panasonic Micro 4/3 G10 with 14-140mm lens.

In advance, thank you for your time and expertise!

I like #2 & #4 I don't know aperture 3, but a little PP never hurt anything
