My camera is a 7d 2. Are there focus issues with the EF lens since it is a crop camera. I have several L lens and have been using them but someone suggested I shouldn’t use them.

There are no problems using L lenses on APS-C cameras. Better glass is good. The electronics and communications are the same. Canon's reputation is built on their lenses. They do not dummy down the lenses when used on APS-C bodies. Many pro sports shooters use the 7D II and would not tolerate it. Further, should you decide to go FF in the future, you are ready.

A truism! I have an 80D and my 24-105 'L' II leaves the body only to use my 100-400 'L' II. Canon 'L' lenses are spectacular on a crop body IMO.

Not at all true. All of Canon's crop sensor bodies can use all of Canon's lens. Period. End of story.

Note: all EF and EF-s lenses but none of the mirrorless lenses. Thought I'd throw that in just because someone will undoubtedly call me on it.

The person who told you that us incorrect. I have a 7D Mark II and use a mixture of crop lenses like the Canon EFs 10-18 and EFs 15-85, etc as well as a mixture of EF and L lenses like the Canon EF 35mm f/2 IS USM and EF 70-200 f/4L IS USM, among others. EF lenses are mounted on my camera at least as much, if not more than crop lenses, and I get incredibly sharp and contrasty results with them.

I agree, I only used one EF-S lens on my 7DII, A Tamron 10-20* (which has an EF mount) and have never used anything but FF EF lenses on my 80D.
On both the 7DII and the 80D the FF lenses give superb results if I do my part and Mr Murphy doesn't stick in his 2 cents worth (or $2 mostly in my case).
Mainly they are 24-105L, 100-400L (sometimes with 1.4x), Tamron 150-600, Tamron 180 macro (sometimes with a 1.4x), Canon 50 f/1.8, Canon 100 macro, Bower/Rokinon/Samyang 14 mm manual lens.

*Only a couple of times, my daughter borrowed it for a CosPlay event, fell in love with it, I gave it to her for her birthday.

The person who suggested that to put it politely is an absolute IDIOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
L lenses are perfectly good on ALL Canon cameras.
There are NO focus issues.
There are NO function issues at all.
In fact with your camera ALL EF, EFs including the subset L lenses work perfectly with your incredible 7D Mark II camera.
Yes, for field of view equivalent to the full frame you will multiply the focal length by 1.6 so a 400mm lens seems like a 640mm lens. It is still a 400mm lens just looks like 640mm.
This is why many birders use the crop cameras for distant shots due to this factor.
In FACT every EF and EFS lens made from the beginning, including L lenses, will work 100% perfectly including focus and meter, IS and any other feature on ALL EF cameras ever made since 1987/88. No other manufacturer can make this claim. Also the same applies to the new R mirrorless cameras but the EF and EFs lenses work even better say 120% which again no one else can claim. (The R has 2 exceptions with a couple of odd lenses that I don't think are made and were short lived).
So when a complete idiot says crap about L lenses on and Canon camera they are showing a level of stupidity beyond comprehension.
Finally I have very old Rebel film and Canon A2 cameras as well as a 10D and a 7D that work beautifully with my various L lenses and any other EF/EFs lens I own. Also bellows and other lenses with no communication and the meter still works with your camera.
So enjoy the finest optics available and have fun with no worries.

The person who gave that advice must have had a full frame camera they wanted to sell. I have been using L lenses on a 7D since I received that camera and have never had a problem. It is possible the advice giver may have confused using EF-S lens on a full frame camera, and that will not work.

Many of my friends in Florida use the 7D mark II with the Canon 100-400 II lens. Their results are stunning.

After all that has been said (including by me) I note that you refer to this person as "someone" and not as a friend. That is telling, since they are clearly not a friend. Anyone who knows enough to know what an "L" lens is and what a "crop camera" is, knows enough not to say something so idiotic, unless they have some other motive.

No, the L lenses work just fine on your camera. There are only two lenses that I could recommend that I have experience with, one of those being the 15-85, I found it to be superior to the 24-105L lens on a crop camera, and the 10-22 is an outstanding lens.
