If our “revered” national legislators wanted to do something actually useful (and immensely popular), they’d pass a law banning robocalls, with FCC funding for enforcement and hefty prison sentences and fines (1M$ would be a good starting point) for violations.

If the ID is spoofed, it's worthless.
(I've heard of people's caller ID showing their own number.)

Nomorobo (which is free for your home phone, $1.99/month for your cellphone) has worked wonders for me. After a few months, I almost never get a robo call, and when I do, it only rings once (and I smile).

Ah, yea...
Calls made by VOIP has made it more difficult to stop the calls, unless they finally have a way to track them.
(I have my cell phone set to disallow VOIP calls.)

When I see a call with the same area code and prefix as mine I know it's a fake call. I reject all of them. The only time I don't reject all calls is when I place a Craigslist ad and don't know the buyers numbers.

If I don't know the number or the name we don't answer. If it is somebody who needs us they'll leave a message.

Check out the HIYA app for your phone. Helps me a lot reducing these calls. The free version is good, but the $12.99/yr version is well worth the price. I agree there should be a law against it!

Thanks
