Hi everyone,
Working distance; 5 centimeters.
Soon, iĺ tell the magnification and upload a test shot
I recently read an article about a Russian ultra magnet field experiment that exploded. They used every trick in the trade much as you have in your setup. zundapp5 such a setup would not be allowed in the USA because it is not spelled out by the Puritanical Book of Photography!! You have my cheers for having the imagination and patience to do the setup. I look forward to seeing the results, even if it fails to be crisp, achieving a failure is in a way a success.

I'm guessing that's not your walk-around lens.

Are you sure your not thinking of a sci-fi movie? That sounds familiar.
Seriously, there was a sci-fi movie with a similar plot. I'll try to think of the name.
Russia used explosives to create immense magnetic field and achieved 1800 Teslas. Japan used EMP of 4giga joules and achieved 1,200 Teslas. Both at the expense of destroying their labs. Don't try this at home.
Waiting for your pictures pls

My guess is 2x magnification, just saying that a full frame (?) D800 would multiply by 4 at 200mm and reduce in half at 24mm = 2x.
Not very imaginative on my part, but someone has to start the bidding!
Love it when ingenuity bypasses spending $$$ on equipment! Anxiously awaiting your results. Nicely labeled setup, BTW.

It's not April 1st by any chance??
Looks quite interesting for sure. I shoot macro also and when I get that close to a subject I find that lighting with a speedlight or strobe is mostly impossible. I also found that when I tried to extend the magnification past 5-times with extension tubes and reverse lenses that the view through the camera was so dark that I couldn't achieve a usable focus.
At the range that you describe I believe that you are more in the 'microscopic' realm than in the 'macro' and there are numerous ways to achieve high levels of magnification without stacking as much hardware. By the way, I have that Nikkor 200mm f4 AFD and it is a beast of a lens and it is my favorite for hunting insects in the field.
Enjoy your venture into high magnification and I am eager to see posts of your images.

Without the PN-11 ring, and the teleconverter mounted normally, the magnification would be about 16.7X. I’m not sure how much the extension adds, though I could try it with my own lens and ring. It seems unusual to me that the PN-11 would be mounted between the teleconverter and lens.

Yeah, the Japs blew the door off their cage doing this!
Watched the video, the experiment lasted only seconds!
Congratulations on your configuration and ingenuity. I am anxiously awaiting the results.
