How it got that title, I'll never know.... True, you can point and shoot, but then again you can do that too with any of the higher priced Nikons and Cannons...

I was hesitant to call it a P&S until I looked it up online-that's how it was listed. To me, it would more fit into the category of a Bridge Camera.

When they get real 'technical', ANY camera with a "fixed lens" is considered P&S. Within that category are "compact" or "pocket" and then the "bridge" or "Super Zoom" models. Way too many different terms to describe the same cameras.
