Here are a couple of shots from a game today....
Both of these runs resulted in touchdowns, the 1st photo was about a 45 yd run and the 2nd photo was about a 70 yd run..
I love the second one as it looks as though he has the whole other team chasing him

I like the 2nd one also--the intensity of the "pursued, and his pursuers" is real. The first shot has great action, and is tight.

Hi

Nicely composed shots. I actually like the first better, especially the 2nd offensive placer taking down a pursuer.

Tom I like both shots, the second one makes me smile. As if to say na na come and get me if you can. Great stuff. Seven defenders chasing.

You made two fine football photos. Player with ball is always a strong image to capture. Try shooting from a lower position rather then standing shooting down. Kneeling from a lower angle will give you a more dramatic image! Don't be afraid to use a long lens, 400, 500, 600mm, also shoot wide open using Aperture Priority on your camera.

Tighter cropping will show a stronger image to write about. You don't need to show other players that have nothing to do with writing a positive caption. Keep shooting SPORTS Tom DePuy, you'll gain more experience every game that will help you. AP

Thanks for the input AP....
Unfortunately we have had a lot of rain here in the are "Hurricane Florence" so the ground was very wet, so no kneeling for me..
, and at this time 200mm is the longest I have....Tom

I kind of agree with the cropping, but to me the shot of 7 defenders running after the runner strikes me funny.

I like the tighter crops. I think I am always afraid that cropping too tight removes context, but you examples here AP and those of Jules keep showing me that it is just getting comfortable with removing more. I iike your suggestion of writing the positive (short) caption. That will give me a way to think about how much to crop.

Welcome, Jules, I agree, you are correct! Changed my cropping for a fine keeper Sports Photo by: Tom Deputy! Now this photo has a better and more accurate caption to write about! There are times, and I've been told in the past, take your time. You go too fast! These are one of those times, I've been corrected and fixed the photo for the best! HOW'S THAT! AP

Welcome David VT! Try to show a story in your picture. Let your picture have something to say when others are viewing it! Your written words are most understanding . . . THANK YOU! AP

Sideways comment after noting that both of these are very good. I got to looking at the helmet decals of the team in light jerseys and it seems to be a duplicate of the NFL's Patriots' decal. As a coach in a small school in TX, I know that on many occasions we have been unable to purchase decals that even closely resembled copyrighted images, and I'd have to assume the Patriots have copyrighted theirs. I wonder if this pair of images might, in the worst case, end up with lawyers making calls to league organizers? Hope not, but wonder.

I have noticed that also, in fact this whole league has logo's that represnt NFL teams....In all honesty I dont see many youth leagues that dont copy the major league teams in some shape or form....In fact when I played Little League Baseball back in the 60s, I played for the Pirates in my league and our uniforms looked just like the Pittsburg Pirate's uniforms back then
