Chronicle of Fall Foliage, Sept. 28 Telluride, CO

nhastings Loc: Telluride, CO

Today's foliage. Since we didn't have good snow this year and little rain this summer, my thought going into this "leaf peeping" season was that it would be dull. Boy, was I wrong. This is one of the most vibrant seasons I can remember in the past 20 years. Who knew? Anyway for those considering venturing into the San Juan Mountains this year, this weekend is hitting it perfectly although it will be very good for the next 10 days. Neil

Great capture Neil and the download. In Steamboat Springs the change is happening at about 8,000 feet and above.
It was a cloudless sky all day and was almost 80 degrees in town. The warm days tend to slow the change
of colors.

Absolutely beautiful when downloaded.
But also hidden in the posted compressed image I see a huge pair of eyes and a nose in frontal part of the mountains. Are you seeing that?

Beautiful. We can't make it, but we're heading to the Eastern Sierras the weekend after next hoping to catch something similar.
