I am heading to Red Rock National Park this weekend. Looking forward to capturing some great landscape shots. I have the Sony a7iii and the widest lens I have is a sony 24-105mm. I would like to hear from the members of the forum if you think I should be considering purchasing a wide angle zoom or if you think i am covered well enough by the 24-105mm. Thanks.
Go with what you've got. It's a good lens. You are going to be far enough away that you will capture what you want with that lens.
For landscapes it's a mixed bag for me I have a Canon FF and also use 24-105. I love UWA and have 16-28 that I use a bunch. I also have a 14mm Prime that is useful. Many at UHH will tell you to shoot pano, or ect.
For me before I make a purchase of equipment I am certain of the need. I would evaluate your style and if seems you hit the 24mm and wsh a wide prospective then by all means shop for wide glass.

Which park?
Regardless, I would want a wider lens, or be prepared to merge images in post.
I assume you are talking about Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area near Las Vegas (about 20 miles east of the strip). I made a trip there about four years ago now and I carried three lenses with me that took me from 17mm to 200mm. Looking over the images I brought back from that trip I see the majority were taken at 24mm or longer although I still took several as wide as I could go at 17mm. It was nice to have that large a range to shoot with, but in a pinch (say, had my 17-35mm lens gotten damaged for instance) I could have survived with the range left to me.
An alternative to purchasing a wide lens is to rent one for the trip. If you would not normally use a super wide angle lens otherwise I would not recommend going out and buying one just for this trip. I would spend my money on polarizing and neutral density filters because the desert sun can be quite harsh, especially in the middle of the day. You might even consider driving a bit further northwest of Las Vegas (about 50 miles from the strip) and take in the Valley of Fire State Park while you are out there. Awesome red rock formations. I believe the day fee there is only $10.
Hope this is of help to you. Have a fun trip.

Thank you for your reply. I think I will stick with the 24-105 then.

Yes, you were of great help. I will stick with what I have. Was actually going to purchase the filters today. Yes, I am talking about the park in vegas and Valley of Fire is on the list as well.
I was just there and agree that that lens is perfect. If you want wider vista, use the panorama setting with the lens at its widest zoom.

What you have is fine....

Google says the panorama mode was omitted from OP's model. But shooting a series for stitching is a great suggestion. Gene51 even does multiple
rows See one example here:

Was there in May with an a7R3 and the 24-105. I got some great shots. You’ll be fine.

Save your money...the 24-105 is perfect.
I was at Red Rocks last year (in September) and the bulk of my photos were taken with my 28-75 Tamron f/2.8. Your lens should be more than adequate.
Love Red Rock! Been there a couple of times, but many years ago. Your 24 should provide you with enough wideness. But I think you will be happier if you have more reach than 105??!!
In any case, have a Safe and Wonderful trip!
