As far as the Spanish Inquisition goes, there was no appeal to a sentence. Just one accusing word sentenced you to death. History repeats itself.

Having been falsely accused and jumping through hoops to prove my innocence I can attest to the fact it is not fun, also expensive. it made the local paper but when I was proven innocent not a word in the same paper about that. Today as in my case false accusations are often used as revenge. People however are more than ready to believe an accusation is gospel t***h.

Please, please, please.....can we all try to remember that this whole mess is based on a "repressed" memory that may or may not be based in fact. It should be Ms. Ford's memory that is put on trial, not Kavanaugh's reputation. By the way, to the best of my knowledge I have never known a man to have had a "repressed" memory.
PS: I am a seventy nine year old woman who has two unrepressed memories of being "attacked" (back then we called it groping). A well placed knee fixed everything in a heartbeat. Something tells me those dudes were a whole lot more damaged than I was!

Repressed memory recovery was huge in the late 80's. It was utterly debunked then and is still not considered valid even today. Only quacks still use it and are destroyed in court every time. The Encyclopaedia Britannica Medical and Health journal of 1987 has an incredible and well researched article on this subject. This repressed and recovered memory crap is just that crap and anyone stupid enough to believe in it is either brain dead or just plain stupid. Of course democrats all fall into this category.
