While driving down the Mississippi from Iowa (not sure if I was in Iowa or Missouri at the time), I pulled out at a beautiful spot to see the river and the fall foliage. Here's one I took that captures the autumn hues well.

Thanks again Mike. You are always so encouraging. I appreciate the comment. When I took the pictures of which this is one example, I was standing in the fallen leaves of a grove of trees...the ground was essentially covered in fallen leaves, so my job was to look through the viewfinder until I found what I thought was an interesting set/grouping of leaves and push the shutter. That was the extent of my creativity...but I guess choosing the right grouping and composition qualifies. It was such a beautiful setting that I didn't think I could go wrong. jack

Very nice. I hope you got some good river shots also.
Thanks for viewing and commenting. The spot where I took these shots was actually at least 1/2 mile from the river itself, though I could see it and a number of feeder streams in the distance. I got a much better view of the river when I stopped in Hannibal for a little Mark Twain/Samuel Clemens historical visit. I was able to walk along the riverfront and saw a huge barge being pushed down the river. I was headed for St. Louis to stay that night, so I didn't stay too long. Got to St. Louis and the arch just at sundown. A couple of months later I received a ticket in the mail for going through a red light (which I don't remember seeing) as I turned off the highway into Hannibal...oh well. No accident and small fine.... Have a nice day.
