I too thought about it. I went to Silvios, tried it out, I really really liked it. It feels like a "real" camera, works like a "real" camera. It takes great pictures. And that 83x zoom is marvelous, I just can't hand hold it that far out. But I already have "real" cameras. Same size and weight, with lenses and accessories.
So I bought the A900 instead. 1/3 the weight, 35x zoom, 20 vs 16 mp, and it fits in my pocket. For when I don't want to carry a "real" camera, or one kinda like it. For me (YMMV) the A900 is a great walk around travel type camera.
If I get any older, and get rid of my legacy and kits, and want one single camera to do them all, the P900 (or similar) might be a great choice.I'd recommend it to many folk I know who would be well satisfied with something this simple to work yet so good at all that it does.

OK. I lerv the A900. I bought another one, (one for wifee/spare) so I now have a silver and a black one. Notso good in low light, but great at everything else. There's an ongoing intermittent herd of grands and great grands, and I like using the articulating screen to take waist level shots. And I can see the screen when I hold the camera over my head and not have to guesstimate. Tho I don't like not being able to 180 the screen- the screen is face out when you fold it up to stick in your pocket. Screen protector, please. The battery won't charge in camera, but it's the same as a few of my other Nikons, so that works for me.
Did I mention it fits in my pocket?
The D80, the D3200, and the D7100 pretty much require that I carry a goodie bag. And the selfie/ snowflake generation are cell phone addicts; a "real" looking camera kinda spooks some of the youngsters. Something like the A900 (vs the P900)- notso much.
EBay has them on cyber sale this week for @ $167, if'n you're interested.
I know you were referring to the A900; which I’m thinking about checking for portability. Will ck eBay. Low light: I have the P900 & 2 Nikon series 5xxx dslr’s and have noticed low light issues. I also have a couple of Nikon P520’s with which I have no low light issues. Haven’t figured out why the difference. Anyway, a little off the your subject; just thought I would mention while on my mind. Just rambling on, I guess. Have a good day.
I dunno why the Nikons don't like low light as much so much neither.
My Canon SX120 (10mp, 10x zoom, 2AA bats, pocketable) takes excellent low light pics.
I wish my Nikon S8000 (14mp, 10x zoom) was as good.
