Does anyone have any experience using remanufactured Epson cartridges for a printer?

Yes, and nothing that is good to say about them.

Yes. You like printer ink all over your fingers? Globbing onto your prints?

Stay with OEM product.

Yes, Epson, HP, Brother, etc. for over 30 years and have never had a problem. No affiliation but have been using Inkfarm.com last 15 years and have been satisfied with price, service and quality. However have to admit have not printed a photograph in over a decade - now color flyers, brochures, etc.

I used ink from 123 ink for years. Then a while back my printer stopped working. The ink had globed the heads to a point where they wouldn't work. It was too expensive to repair. So buying seven dollar cartridges instead of the twenty five dollar ones saved me some money for a while but cost me a printer. I think I lost in the long run.

Have been using Ink Technologies for years for my Epson 2200 photo printer and my HP Lazer printer,
and have never had a problem. Their prices are great and they ship fast. You can contact them by logging

I bought some Ink Farm cartridges and my relatively new printer became totally gummed up. Took five very tedious cleaning processes to get it working again. The savings (there weren’t any) were not worth the trouble. From then on it was Epson cartridges every time for my Epson printer. Please heed this recommendation.

Yes. Flip a coin to determine if they will work. I recently got some from EZink that are good. However, I've started refilling cartridges. That's better and cheaper.

All re-manufactured cartridges are not the same. Also, it depends on how often you print. I have Epson 4880 and 9800 printers. Epson cartridges are about $100 each (eight cartridges per machine). Re-manu cartridges are about $35 each. Epson inks apparently have some chemical that inhibits clogging and stabilizes the ink. Not all re-manu cartridges do. Also shelf life is different. Epson specifies a date. I always use them past the expiration date, but I agitate them thoroughly first and understand the risk.

I have had some re-manu cartridges clog and some worked fine. I had a long, ugly argument (including threats on both sides) with one of the re-manu cartridge companies, and I will not disclose who they are. The local Epson Service center advised me which re-manu inks can cause trouble and which ones don't. But Epson also says to print something every day. Doesn't need to be a photo, but print something to keep the inks flowing. If you leave your printer on standby mode or off for periods over a week, and you use re-manu cartridges, you will run the risk of clogs. Lately, I have only been using Epson cartridges for my big printers.

Years ago, I had a Epson 2200 printer that I converted to only B&W inks, and bought a bulk ink system with tubes for each tone, and bottles of ink. When it worked it was beautiful. But ended up scrapping the whole think because maintenance was such a pain in the butt.

I also have an Epson R200 printer (prints CD disks) which is now a boat anchor because it cannot be unclogged. So do your own research and I can only tell you OEM inks will seem cheap if you start paying $300-400 repair bills.

I have two HP and one Canon printer as well as a portable HP printer. Over the years, I have tried a variety of after market cartridges for the HPs and always experienced problems eventually. Nothing seems to be as reliable as the HP units. My Canon PIXMA has run flawlessly for 6 years with (8 pricey) Canon cartridges despite being moved in the back of an SUV with cartridges installed on two occasions and not being used regularly (idle for up to 6 months). Stay with OEM.

I am curious.
Are all of the comments in this thread concerning the various companies supplying re-manufactured printer inks used especially or for the purpose of printing color photos?

I checked one of the recommended sites and was amazed at the pricing of a set of the color inks.

I have used Cartridge World here in Kansas for years for my HP 6000. However, when I needed the printer, it began to "crap out" on me. Took it to a repair station and the heads were clogged. Tried to clean it over the weekend and the Magenta port was beyond recovery. Had to rush out and buy another printer quickly so I could meet the deadline for the printed pamphlets.

Just curious.

My HP worked well with them but then packed up. It was over 10 years old so can't complain and won't blame the re-manufactured cartridges for its demise - but it could have been.
Get an EPSON with the ink tanks. Most models come with 2 years supply (2 sets of bottles). I'm about 10% through my first set after 6 months.
