We drove from the entrance to the far visitor center and back yesterday without a single elk anywhere, then got a text from a friend directing us to an offshoot of Bear Lake Rd. Look for the cars! Nice herd with a 7 pointer watching over them.

I am in Firestone and in a week or two the Aspens should be peak.

I'm not sure I'd wait a week or two for the Aspens to peak. Some are there already!! Early this year because of the dry conditions. Through the park you'll notice that a lot of work has been done in heavily forested areas to thin out dead, dry stuff and stack for burning this winter. Wish I'd gotten a pic or two. The stacks look like solid log tepees. Talked to a ranger who said that with snow fall, it's safe to burn them. Now, those could be some awesome shots to get!!
