Transformation of a Locus

Every night my 4 yr old grandaughter and I collect Locus shells from the trees. She likes to stick them on people and has made her grandmother and mom scream many times. I never saw one coming out of its shell until today.

This is a photo essay on that process. Comments are always welcomed. I don't have a macro lens and used aD7000, 16-85mm at about 1.5 feet distance. Some flash was used as this was before the sunlight hit my yard.. Because the critters are small I had to crop the size of a big postage stamp.

Very interesting, I'd be screaming if she put one on me as well. I'm scared of bugs but like taking their photo. Most are very interesting up close.

Absolutely and truly awesome photos. It a a great it is cool to watch nature being born no matter how ugly it may seem. I think it is nest to see life evolve. Nice close-ups for not having a macro lens
