I need a remote shutter release for my D500. It seems that most of what i’ve Looked at will not work on my camera. Anyone with a recommendation of one they use with good results will be much appreciated. And, no I don’t want a cable release.
Thank you

SMDV radio trigger. Its the one I use. 300 foot range, 16 channels, very fast and dependable.

I use a Pluto trigger for my D500 - it is more expensive than a "just" trigger (well same price as the Nikon RF trigger) but it can also trigger on lightning, laser beam (laser and sensor included), sound, etc. I like it -

I have two of the Vello Frewave's plus wireless remotes... I also have the Vello ShutterBoss II wired remote which has a bunch of features like increment timer, sequential shooting (beyond what many cameras can do (in settings). It can handle exposures, delays etc. up to 99hours and 59 seconds between shots and/or you can shoot manually by just pressing the trigger button. Mush of the same is true with the Vello Freewave Wireless but the wireless doesn't have as many features but is wireless. I use both for different conveniences. I like both for remote/tripod shots so that I don't vibrate the camera when releasing the shutter. I've found both to have good uses and they complement each other. By the way, the Freewave wireless can be used on multiple flavors of cameras by purchasing the appropriate plug-in and wire. The head/remote are the same... just change wires... And the Wireless will then work on any camera that they have the wire for... Nikon, Canon etc. The wired Boss II has enough different features to make having both worthwhile. I'm fortunate, my wire for the Nikon D7100 fits the wife's D7000 and my D610 also. She and I both have the wireless and we have one wired to share. I've had the two wireless for about 5 years (had to change batteries once in each) and the Wired for about 3 years.. all work great.
By the way, I didn't want a cable release either... which is why I went wireless.. (about 30' range) however the wired... has a 3' cable and works well on the tripod.. As I said, each has features that the other doesn't which makes both viable. Also, I didn't really want to be 30 feet from my cameras and lenses at night on a beach with other people.... Or especially have the camera on a tripod in the front yard while I sit in the house tripping the remote... really didn't want to chase some thief down the road to get my gear back.

I have a Pixel TW 283 for my D7200. It works quite well and has several shooting options such as burst mode, timed shots etc. Was reasonably priced. Their website can tell you which models they have that will work with you body.
Documentation states that 20” separation is needed between transmitter and receiver. I have placed the transmitter directly on the receiver and it works every time. Great unit.

My brother in law has one of these "WR-R10/WR-T10/WR-A10 Wireless Remote Adapter Set". It is expensive but we were just in Sedona and it was REALLY convenient. I have 3ft corded one for my D800 but i would really consider the Nikon if I could find it a a reasonable price. They gave him a great deal when he bought his 2 D500s.
