But, as others have suggested, since you live on the island it's best to make a trip into the city and check out the travel tripods at B&H. Choosing a travel tripod comes down to a mix of personal priorities, affordability and comfort.

just a different idea. I bought a sunwayfoto T1Aii-ii with xb-28 ball head.
I do have a camera with screen that moves so it works with this tripod.
by the way the tripod is only a few inches off the ground or other stable item.
haven't used it yet, but plan on taking on my next family trip.

Personally, for stability I look for no more than 4 section legs, so that narrows it down to just a few on that list. 5-section legs can fold up smaller, but get awfully flimsy with the lowest leg sections being very small diameter.

My next big concern is load rating of the head and legs. I have some lens/camera combos that weigh around 10 lb., though I'm unlikely to travel much with those. Still, I want as much capacity as possible.

I'd also prefer to raise a center column as little as possible, another thing that compromises stability. While it also effects how small the tripod will fold up, I'd look for the max height possible without using the center column.

Finally, I prefer twist type leg locks over levers or thumbscrews. The twist type locks are low profile and self-adjusting for any wear over time. That's not the case with the other types.

In the end, to me the Benro FTA28CV1 Travel Angel Series 2 Carbon Fiber Tripod w/V1E Ballhead looks like a pretty good choice at a reasonable price (https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1157837-REG/benro_fta28cv1_travel_angel_9x_carbon.html).

I highly recommend the Induro CLT103 Classic Series 1 Stealth Carbon Fibre tripod for $325 at B & H. At 2.8 pounds this tripod is a travelers friend. I have had a slightly larger Induro for some time and is a hikers tripod. I don't think you will find a better built tripod for the money.

You have a lot of choices, but let me add one more, I travel with a Koolehaoda K 08. Swiss Arc head, collapses to about 1 foot and doubles as a mono pad. It has a hook at the bottom so some weight ( camera bag) can be added for stability. I use it with a Canon 5D Mk is and my 24-105 travel lens. IGW

For traveling abroad, hiking and climbing, the tripod has to always fit into my day backpack.
How heavy is your camera?
For the convenience I chose the tripod with flip locks and a separately purchased, easy to work with, ball head.
Most of my outdoor trips are taken with lighter, bridge kind of cameras and all tripods have a loop on the bottom of the central column for attaching a water bottle to increase the heft of the tripod-camera combo.
So far, I have not experienced any problems or a desire for some of my heavier tripods - even for several second long exposures.
Convenience and speed is the goal for travel.

Manfroto 190Xpro4 is most excellent. Extremely compact so it fits in a small suitcase and is very light. Choose ball or tilt pan head as you prefer. I got a shoulder case for it and it's virtually unnoticeable strapped across my back or shoulder.
I can take it with me everywhere that previously I debated if I wanted to drag a tripod on a walk.
I am 6' tall and it is tall enough for me. I use the pan tilt head.
Very sturdy and if you need additional steadiness it has a hook to hang your bag on or I take a plastic grocery bag and put rocks etc. In it if needed. Some people hang a cord from the hook and step on it as well to add steady weight.

It depends on your set up needs and gear. I have traveled with a Benro traveler carbon fiber, but recently purchased a RRS TVC 24 for trips because I have moved to a heavier camera/lens. The Benro wasn’t stable enough with a heavier set up. For my D300S and 18-200 it was perfect. I always carry on, no checked luggage. I also have used a gorilla pod, but preferred a tabletop RRS Tripod because it was great with both a D800 and a Panasonic micro 3/4. The Gorilla moved slightly with the heavier setup and wasn’t tall enough to warrant the bulk compared with the very sturdy RRS table top. There always seemed to be a bench, wall, garbage for the table top can where I needed one

I've had good luck with the Sirui T-2205x tripod with a k-30x ballhead; also with the Sirui P-326 monopod and the L-10 head for it. Both combinations are light in weight and sturdy for holding cameras and lenses.
