Hi Guys, found this butterfly in our garden this morning...can anyone ID it for me..(Could be an Aussie one only..??)...not the best pics, the bush was going mad in the wind...

Ron, I've never seen one like it and have no idea, but it's certainly beautiful, and your shots are fantastic!

Ron, you are on a roll with these photos and the ones labeled Spring. These are also fantastic and I have never seen this butter before but with these photos someone for sure can ID it.

good shots in spite of the windy conditions, ron. it's a beautiful butterfly and one

Nice! Red admiral Vanessa atalanta I would think. I saw quite a few of them this year. They experience periodic population explosions for some reason.

However, you are down under, so my guess is that this is a close relative of our Red admiral, the Yellow admiral, also called the "Australian admiral" - Vanessa itea.
