I had tried for close to 20 years, but saw this RR out my back window. He stood like this for no longer than 15 seconds.
Good catch. These buggers are quick.
I saw him outside our patio window, picked up my camera, and the difficult part was getting the sliding patio door open without startling him. I was like a little kid looking at the screen after snapping photo. I had chased these so many times without any luck. To have one show up like this was close to a miracle.

He had to move---that falling anvil was closing in!

Outstanding work - reactions and photo.
I haven't seen one in ages. Nice work catching a photo of one.

I like all roadrunner photos. Sorry you had to wait. We have had roadrunners for 8 years at our house and we feed them - hamburger. Never feed them meat from the store because the hamburger will not have calcium and they get ricketts & their offspring will be crippled. We add cuttlebone that's sold as birdfood. We grind it up and sprinkle it into the burger as smaller than golf balls.
Sunniing itself.

Chick is on the right. Notice the shivering wings pleading for food.
Trail Cam shot - waiting to come inside for food.
Mating in our front yard. Nest was made in a tree two doors down and about head high above us.
