The road being what's called 'The LaSal Mountain Loop.' And I can't use the more common 'further on down the road' phrase because when you follow it, you gain elevation along the way before finally coming back down to earth. In effect, there's something for everyone: macro shooters, middle distance types, the loooong view stuff of a hundred miles away, you name it. I rarely drive the whole loop, opting instead to take the less travelled 4WD Sand Flats cutoff that passes through one of my favorite areas, the uppermost drainage of Cougar Canyon.

Excellent work! I sure miss that western topography.

"Further on up the road" Bobby Blue Bland - 1957, A favorite bar band song from my bar band era! We did it in a more Eric Clapton style, but kept that Texas Shuffle feel..

Cany, this set for sure does tempt one to make a trip out there to see for one self. Having said that, the reality is we all have available to us fantastic areas to take photos of this type with of course different subject matter.

Couldn't agree more, Greg. Urban, suburban, rural, the dark side of the Moon, you name the place, and there's probably something there worth shooting. Sometimes, even something that somehow says something.

Thanks, olemikey. Once someone does the bar band thing, that same someone never quite loses the bar band thing. They might refine it a little, but without the clink of a beer bottle in the background, it ain't quite music, is it. Clapton's version isn't bad, though, even without the beer bottle clink overdub. Purist that I am, I believe its at its best played on a Gibson, though, Texas Shuffle or not.

Ain't it the truth! I agree, our guitar at the time (usually 3 or 4 piece, my brother on bass, me on the kit, our long time guitar buddy Lamar on lead, sometimes an "other"), liked to play it both ways (as did we) though he usually had his strat in the bars. Often on those 5 set grinders we would do some songs one way in one set, and another way later on. I enjoy your pics, they take me there!!

Cany, the clouds in the last image just begged for the B&W treatment. Thanks for obliging. Well done.
