I have the Tamron G2 90mm.
There is a definite learning curve.
You seem to be a bit out of focus
For macro manual focus seems to be the way to go.
Turn off your AF and focus.
Depth of field is trail and error.
A lot of people recommend shooting around f/16.
I have tried hand held without a lot of sucess. I use a tripod now.
I suggest reading up on marco photgraphy
Google it there is a massive amount of useful information out there.
But honestly, you are so close to having this nailed.
