Another night of bleacher photos. The school says they have enough photograhers with their student photo group. 3 with cameras, one with a long lens, and 2 video recorders on Monopods all on the field.
Typical field lighting, better then others, but still having to boost my ISO up to 12800 or more to maintain a 1/1000 spd at 2.8f. Oh well! I'm mainly shooting for my grandson anyway. Here are some of my better photos. Cheerlearders are from the visiting Lincoln HS in Lincoln Ca. they have an amazing routine. All seem to have some gymnastic background.
Using 7Dmii with 70-200, 2.8f Sigma lens. Enjoy. Comments welcome.

Gray_Ghost2, I will give you my response towards your HS SPORTS football. You are proud of your SPORTS photos and wanted others to see your images. I will start by saying your photos are made showing from a standing positing or a higher level. Too high looking down.
Shoot from a lower angel. Kneeling with a monopod. You shoot with a shoot with a short lens. Try using longer. Your showing too much in your photographs. Crop tight, and let the picture tell the story! I understand their bleacher photos!
Sports Photographer separates all photographs. You have to really see the images just before it happens! Wait one split second, your classic photo is gone for ever, cannot be brought back!
AP Gawrys free-lance SPORTS Photographer 1969-85. Keep shooting SPORTS, it well put you ahead of others capturing that deceive moment. .
Thanks for your comments. Sometimes when cropping tight it brings out the noise more, but I will keep trying. I'm using a Sigma 70-200 2.8f. How much longer lens do you suggest? I'm sitting on my scooter with my camera on a monopod., yes a higher position, the bleachers. Unable to get onto the field. That would be ideal but I take what I can get.
When shooting wrestling, I'm on the 1st row of bleachers and the wrestlers 20-30ft away. But yes, probably need to crop tighter. Thanks again for your comments.

Welcome, Gray Ghost! These are two photos I made during my HS SPORTS days, made in the 70s with Nikon F2 mounted w/Nikkor 300mm f2.8 EDIF at f2.8, don't be afraid to shoot wide open!
From your shot lens, move up to at least 300 to 500mms. These days, digital lenses offer this range. As far as speaking "NOISE" get real, are you going enlarge your photos 20x24 or larger, no-way!
Photos made on Kodak TRI-X ASA 400 35mm B&W film.
There are only 3 makings of a photographs: YOUR EYE, YOUR BRAIN, and YOUR SHUTTER FINGER! Jim Blaire, staff photographer National Geographic told me this more than twenty years ago.
1. You see the subject though the finder of your camera, 2. Your Brain tells you - SNAP the Shutter Stupid, 3. You Wait Just one split Second and your is non forever!
I'll send PRO football photos for you to see if you wish. SPORTS Photograhy is not easy to do as many might think.
