Not to disagree with you at all but in my opinion the Summitar lens might deserve some of the credit. Leica has long been known, for however they make their lenses, for different and excellent color rendition as well as the legendary sharpness. I don’t have a Fuji yet, a fly rod or another shotgun seem to get in the way, but I would like to get one at some point. Great cameras.

Dennis - If you've already got a fly rod or a dozen shotguns, you probably don't need another one. Don't wanna sound like some sort of Fuji fanboy or anything, but I'd suggest you forego getting that new killin' machine in lieu of a killer killin' machine you can use anywhere anytime, and fishes and folks probably won't get dead in the process. Unless you expose badly or something.....

I am a collector of fine firearms and like fly rods so that is where my passion lies. For cameras I have a Nikon D800 and a Nikon FM for film. In rangefinders I have a Leica M10 and a Leica M6 for film. As you can see, I like fine cameras too. I have a number of other cameras as well so while the Fuji would be nice, I doubt I will miss not having one.

I don’t look at my firearms as any type of killing machine at all. They are classic examples of tools used to put meat in my freezer. A few I use often, go back to 1886. All of my cameras, firearms, fishing rods and hunting knives take up their rightful place in my life.

Thanks for the comment.

Didn't mean to imply anything against fishing or hunting at all, just wanted to use a turn of phrase to express a thought. A lot of us collect all kinds of things, and the serious collectors among us get a lot of pleasure out of using the things in our collections that can be used. As such, they are indeed rightful parts of our lives.

Believe me, I took no offense at all and didn’t think you meant any. I simply put other things ahead of my camera purchases

Oh boy do I like these. I love landscapes. We moved to Phoenix area from IL twenty years ago. I know I can drive a few hours to see Green again, but don't enjoy traveling anymore. I love the weather. Summer is hot, but little humidity. We try to stay out of direct heat. Spend all of afternoon summers inside. But I sure miss my Green landscapes.

Thank you very much Jim for your thorough explanation. I got the Fuji xh1 about 4 months ago and am extremely pleased with it. With their combination of excellent lenses and the sensor the image quality rivals anything I have ever used. My other cameras are Pentax and own several old FA* lenses which rival their more modern lenses in IQ.

As soon as I finish matters here in South Carolina, my wife and I are going to live full-time in our motorhome and I will come back to Utah. I had my training in orthopedic surgery at the U and traveled considerably in the southern part of the state. Perhaps I can someday come by and visit you.

Again let me thank you for taking the time to educate me.

Simply put, you bet, Charlie. Though I don't think I did much in terms of thoroughness or that ejjacation stuff. But about coming by and visiting, I'd like that. Especially since my onlyest, bestest friend is a lizard named Liz, and as much as she preens and struts, she isn't much of a conversationalist. And she's always photobombing me when I'm tryin' to kree-ate Art, bless 'er little lizard heart. Also, too, --and maybe more saliently-- there's this pain I've been having right over here......... oh. wait...... You said orthopedic surgery!. It doesn't hurt that bad, I suppose, so even though you'd be welcome enough, you'd be even more welcome if you'd PLEASE leave the scalpels and forceps and other implements of medieval torture in their autoclaved rat skin pouches, right where they belong. (Do you offer coupons or discounts or anything on nice new shiny titanium patellas or ribs or anything? If so, I might consider reconsidering the consideration of those knives and things.)

Ok. My usual thing is to do blanket 'thank-yous' rather than individual thankses. Its not that momma didn't teach me better or anything, its just that momma wore combat boots, so what did she know?

Regardless, I appreciate each of your comments, folks. Thank you.
