In the south it's Poke salat, Made with the leaves,having seen but never eating, it looked like what I used to feed my pigs!! The berries also make a great natural dye.
At age 3 or 4 a friend and I ate poke berries and had our stomachs pumped out at the hospital. At age 43 a friend offered me poke salad which I reluctantly ate and found it to be delicious.
