This anhinga, also known as The Snakebird, was showing off his plumage for me. They are quite colorful with their black and white bodies and brown snake like necks.

We get those occasionally here in South Texas, but Cormorants are much more common. I also see them commonly in the Playa del Carmen area and around Puerto Vallarta. Where did you get those shots?

Dick, I see them along the Anclote River near Tarpon Springs Florida. This one flew up on the fishing pier.
Thanks. I could see that it must be drying because it held its wings open a few times.

Beautiful shot. One of my favorite birds. They don't have oil on their feathers so have to dry off in order to fly.
Fun to watch them hunting/fishing. Strong underwater swimmers.
