Muskrat (Cricetidae) in Duckweed
W. Kentucky, USA - 9/14/2018
1/160 - f/8.0 - ISO 1250

Interesting Tidbit: Muskrats are excellent swimmers, thanks to their webbed back feet,
laterally flattened tails, and the ability to hold their breath underwater for 15-20 minutes.
They can swim backwards and forwards. Known to be most valuable for their fur or pelts,
muskrats are one of the most trapped animals in history. ~Havaheart~

We had them in the creek near our house; my brother called them "waterchucks".

My Jack Russell terrier gets at least one a year that isn't quite fast enough ducking back down a storm drain.

Good capture as they are usually mostly submerged.

Great shot, cute little guy. The Duckweed is just starting up again in my little ponds, hate the stuff, but, what are ya gonna do.
