Help!
I live in Florida. I started doing portrait photography for friends and family. I recently did a photo shoot of a friend who wanted nude shot fo herself. I enjoyed the artistic part of it and they came out great. I like black and white for nudes especially. One person paid me! So I am wondering how to advertise a photo service of nudes for individuals or couples. When people ask me what kind of photography I do how can hook them in without seeming perverted.
Can I show my nudes in an art show? ( No faces ).

This is a broad issue. It is greatly simplified if you managed to get model releases giving you the "right" to use the images in whatever way you deem fit. If you have no release, you may have to get written permission to use the images from the subjects. I'm not a lawyer and you really need a legal opinion on this and not a general photography opinion. But, when getting the opinion, you may need to provide, either examples or probably show each photo as you intend to display them. And then your permission may be specifically on those displays and not future edits.

Ellen, I called myself a Fine Art Figure Photographer. I did have model releases so I could show them my work with clothes and Fine Art Black and White nude studies. I taught a class at the University, called, Fine Art Figure Photography. You had to read the course description it was nude Black and White. PM me if you have any other questions.Hope that helps.

I have done some nudes and wondered about offering this service. I have thought that if I were to share this interest with someone who might be interested in posing, I would like to have a business card that depicts the "business" information on front, and on the back have a small version of a very tasteful nude I have done. All models have signed releases authorizing me to use their photos in any way. That way anyone looking at your card would realize that: 1) you are serious, 2) you have done it before, and 3) you understand that nudes can be an art form and you aren't just a pervert with a camera.
I've shot numerous "Boudoir" photos and thats might be the best way to advertise the service. Also its always good to have another female there, I've used another with the explanation I can't do hair or make up or offer to have one her friends accompany her. The offer of another person present is not only for her to feel safe but your legal safety as well.

Well, Craigslist would not be my first choice.
As for the art show, that would depend on their rules.

I see ads for photographers that do boudoir photos and folks looking for this work on Craigslist (both Tampa and Ocala). I don't do it myself (I do real estate) but see the boudoir stuff.
IMHO there is a fine line between artistic nudes and nekked women.

On showing nudes in an art show. I believe, based on the many art shows that I have entered, that your choice would be very limited. Most art shows are "family friendly." Your best bet would be to enter something that shows flesh in an artistic way but no "specific parts," so to speak.

Ellen, just call it Tasteful Nudes, that's what my Models call it when they don't want to do spread-leg.
Or maybe you really mean Implieds. You need to be more specific or show us examples so we're NOT just trying to read your mind!
If I were NOT a commercial model, I would NEVER sign a release, unless it contained all the things that could NOT be done with an image. Most releases give you free rein, NOT what a private party would want. Good luck

There is one aspect of shooting nudes that I haven't seen mentioned. There are people that believe there is no such thing as artistic nude no matter how much or little of the body is shown. It's all porn. How are you going to deal with them with their wide variety of reactions from angry to lust? Just something to consider.
Approach it like any other part of photography. "I do professional boudoir photography" or "I am a professional photography specializing in nudes" Keep it at that level. NEVER hit on a client or get involved with them. Suggest that if they are nervous, ask a friend to be present. If you intend to display them and there is an identifiable face or other identifiable body part, get a release. You should get a release or contract every time and it should specify your intent about the images, and they must be in agreement. Don't be coy about it.
