Its made by a company called Meike (or a few others). These grips are pretty good quality overall, but nowhere near Nikon Quality. These are then reboxed with Nikon boxes in Hong Kong and sold to unsuspecting buyers. Keep in mind that the warranty will be through the Chinese seller and shipping will cost more than a new unit. (IF the warranty is even valid, thats a guessing game).

A better deal would be to buy one from an American dealer who has an actual in-store warranty on it, like Adorama. Here is their version and its even a better price:

I got my D90 Nikon grip from currys at a fantastic price I actually got the last one, and I mean less than half price, that week on ebay there was lots for sale at less than normal price.. I believe people bought them from currys and sold them on..I was going to do the very same thing if they had more in stock,So always look out for sales in genuine shops and if you can sell them on buy 2 or 3..I sold my Meike for £20.. But as MT Shooter said they are quite good for the money,,Beware if you camera is brand new and develops a fault because of using a cheaper grip your warranty might be void..

Buy the real Nikon grip, I got one for my 300s and it's built like the camera...like a tank. The fakes always suck compared to the originals. I foun mine on Amazon for $90 less than Adorama and B&H.

If the price is too good to be true, then it's probably not worth taking a chance. Although I know a guy that happened accross a garage sale and a bitter divorce caused the sale of all her husbands stuff for $1. Good deal for my friend but sad for the ex husband. :(

I have two Canon cameras on which I use the power grips.
One is from Canon, and the other has no name. Both are idenical and weigh exactly the same. I have had no problems with either one, except the price for the no name
one was less than half what I paid for the Canon.

Here's one for the D7000. http://www.ebay.com/itm/MB-D11-Camera-Multi-Power-Battery-Pack-Grip-For-Nikon-D7000-EN-EL15-track-code-/261069591540?pt=US_Camera_Battery_Grips&hash=item3cc8f5d3f4

I don't see how that can be even close to legal, so how can ebay let them advertise?

They say it's a third party product, yet the picture shows the bottom, "Nikon Multi Power Battery Pack. Nikon Corp, Japan."

The closing line is reassuring. "If you have any questions about your transaction, please contact with me .I will be here to resolve the problems for you anytime untill you do not have any problems at all." That's what I want - no problems at all.

All I have to add is that my NIKON grip for my D300s is made from a solid magmesium casting, not plastic.
