I haven't taken wedding pictures in many years but I was surprised when I set down and started thinking about how many I have done. Wedding are not my thing but I sat down and tried to make a list of weddings that I photographed over the years and I came up with 18 that I could remember and with my memory I am sure I have forgotten some. I was surprised at the amount I had taken.

Yes, my younger sister got married about 15 years ago and she asked me to be the principal photographer. My younger brother was the videographer, and my older sister was the wedding hostess at the church. Lucky for the latter because she had a list of common groupings and poses and did all of the posing while all I had to do was shoot. They came out surprisingly good...thanks to all the help.

I have photographed numerous wedding both as a paid shooter and as a guest. I have also videoed several weddings. I have been first shooter for several weddings and second shooter for many more. Although I'm not a professional photographer, I've known several over the years and only one was a full time wedding photographer. He said it was hard work and took a lot of time and effort to do a really good job. He also said the best thing that happened to photography was the digital camera followed by the ink jet printer.

I was a wedding photographer for over 30 years. I could write a book. And not one page would be about photography. I have seen it all. Just ask any guy thats has been in the bussness for a long time. Im sure they would say the same.

I could be wrong but I think I'd pity the bride and groom if their wedding photos were printed with an ink jet printer. Not sure just how long those prints will last without degrading.

I shot one back in the seventies. I promised God that if he let me get out of it alive , I would never, ever do another one and I haven't and under no circumstance will I. I admire and respect those that do!

I am proud to state that over 30 years of professional photography I have done over 500 weddings. I cannot remember them all, only the ones that created some challenges.
One example,Catholic church with bar across the street. Five minutes to go before the service and bride comes to me worried, groom is missing and she knows he drinks when he gets nervous, I am now at the front door of the church and I see the groom and best man sort of holding each other up coming across the street. I tell the groom the brides worries and he seems to stiffen up a little. So, five minutes later I am at the head of the church next to the groom as the bride and father approach the alter. I take my customary shots and as dad hands the bride off to the groom and they start up on the alter I am close enough to her the bride say, "one false move mister and you sleep alone tonight."
I am happy to report I witnessed the fastest sobering moment in history as our groom preformed excellently during, after, and at the reception. Don't get me wrong, these two young people were and still are very much in love. She just knows what to say to him to bring him around.
This is only one on many, many, many stories I could have related about my wedding photography experience. I am also proud to state that everyone of my wedding were do to the bride's satisfaction. I really enjoyed everyone of my weddings but I am now happily retired from it all.

The last one I did, I was all of that. Frankly, I was not satisfied with the result, and decided to never do another. I did not charge my friends for the experience as I do not want to insure my gear as a professional.

Funerals and weddings are the two biggest occasions that bring family and friends together. Anything can happen when you do that. Still, I much rather be at a wedding.

Yes, I shot weddings (both film and digital) over the years.. I now try to avoid the shoots. They (for me) are more trouble than you get for the money.

I shot my sister-in-law's wedding years ago. Turned out fine. Ironically, it was her ex husband who got me into SLR photography.

I shot approx. 32-35 (film days) before an opportunity at a legal photo gig helped me lose interest entirely - it was good timing as I was just about cured by that time anyway.

I have only done a few weddings and mostly for people that could not afford a pro. All done at cost on film and I thought I did well for what it is worth. My question is not how many I have forgotten but how many of them were able to forget me!!! Or at least forgive!

I shot a few weddings back in the 70's. Quit, after a local pro with 3 cameras forgot to put film in any of them. Got sued! Had to restage the entire wedding: fly groomsmen back to North Dakota from Florida and California, also the bridesmaids., re-rent tuxedos, ballroom, buy flowers, etc. In the end cost him over $20,000! I quit shooting weddings. A real horror story.

That has happened to more than one pro. I can see where it could bankrupt a few. Now, a pro that forgets film/card in one camera - hmmmm, could happen, shouldn't, pro forgets film/card in all - I would question the "PRO" part.
