Well everyone I am going to start posting a few of my "Best" Sedona shots from our trip this Columbus Day weekend and I am looking for honest feedback about what I can do to improve or what I could've done differently to get some better shots. Like I said I am always looking to improve or what I could do with editing to fix or improve. These shots were taken with the Canon 70/200 f2.8 USM II. PLEASE PLEASE give some good feedback :)
Cathedral Rock f 2.8, 1/640 shutter, ISO 100 200 mm handheld
Picture of Snow Covered Mountain in Flagstaff f 5.6, 1/100 shutter, 200mm handheld
Sunset in Sedona f/8, 1/30 shutter, 70 mm handheld

For some reason I do not feel that these images are as sharp as they could be. Maybe you were hand holding the camera and moved slightly or were shooting with the lens opened up. A solid tripod would add sharpness, shutter release would help, shooting f/16.0 or f/11.0 to take advantage of the sharpness of the lens. You really haven't given us much to go on, we need the camera setting and if handheld to really help you.

Yeah I probably should've used my tripod I did for a few select shots but hiking and camping with hubby, 10 month old baby and large chocolate lab it was rough to be setting it up all the time unfortunately and really did a lot of handheld stuff though I know it is a big faux pas in photography. :( I added my settings to each picture so I can get some good advice from you all! Thanks for your feedback and will take into consideration use of a tripod next time and get a babysitter for our next trip so I can enjoy taking picture more. Also I think I need to mess with my ISO settings more I pretty much kept it at 100 for outdoor shots

I would say your first image is soft due to the f stop and the last one probably because of the shutter speed. In recent years the camera's generate less noise at higher ISOs so we can shoot faster and there have been great strides in noise removal software so push your ISO go for a f/11.0 and probably 250 second for your shutter speed. This should allow you to hand hold the camera and take shots at different setting so you can compare the impact of changes. If your camera supports bracketing you might want to try using it so you can get a set of images to compare where the shutter speed or f stop has been change automatically for you. Electrons are cheap where film wasn't experiment and have fun.
Sedona is a beautiful place to be in October....
The storms move through and really bring out the desert colors...
