I was on Amazon checking my orders and decided to ck on what my D Busch's Compact guide for the Nikon D750 was worth or what people were selling it for. Spiral bound book low was $3214.79 and the high $8000+.
By god is there gold in pages somewhere I paid $16.99 for mine. Crazy or what? I know they're out of print but still, and mine is a 1st edition also.

Whew, please sell me yours for what you paid for it, and I'll resell it and be rich!

But you're a Canon guy. Besides no book is worth that!

I wonder if Busch has the right to sell his own book?

I found the same thing a few years ago when I looked up Busch's book for the Sony a6000 -- over $1000 on Amazon. Got it from a local bookstore for about $30 instead.

For $8000, you could probably hire David Busch to pay you a visit and teach you in person how to use the camera!

There is a new version. I purchased the new one a couple of months ago. David Busch's Nikon D750 Fast Track Guide. My understanding is that he has gone to a different publisher. $44.99 through Amazon.

I once bought his book Forman Olympus never again. There were errors, information left out and chapters on processing. There are much better authors for Nikon.

I see that quite often. MT Shooter explained that sellers use that as a place holder because they're out of the item but want to save a place for it when they get some. Posting a high price will insure that no one orders it.

This makes sense as I had another item (not photographic related) that Amazon let me know was available.
As you I thought it highly outrageous to pay that much for it. If this idea to "save the place in line" is true
maybe sometime in the future it will be available at a reasonable price.

This is obviously not a new experience. My wife's book sold (it's now out of print but available on CD/download) was £11.99: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-listing/0955345014/ref=sr_1_1_olp?ie=UTF8&qid=1536507627&sr=8-1&keywords=pitfalls+and+possibilities+in+family+history+research

Wow! When I checked, just now, it was listed at $1125. Amazing!
