Hi, prcb,
I love your hoopoe image! The hoopoe has been, since I was twelve years old, one of my top five favorite birds! You’ll never never miss seeing a hoopoe! None of that wuss-style protective, camouflage coloration for him! Flaunts himself wherever he be! He always appears to be simply delighted being wherever he happens to be and is always waiting for the party to begin!
Also he has, to my estimation, the greatest of bird scientific names! In Linnaean binomial nomenclature he is known throughout the world of biological taxonomists as “Upupa epops”. Makes me smile just to think of it...and I can’t help laughing to hear it actually spoken! None of that Greco-Roman-derivative Dullbrownbirdicus lawsonii for him!
Thanks!
You made my day!
Dave

thanks dave glad you enjoyed that - yes they are great birds. In the north East of Bulgaria where I was visiting there were shed loads of them. None however would oblige by erecting their crests for a Photo.
