I am a relatively new subscriber to this forum and am beginning to understand why it is called the "Ugly" Hedgehog. Why are there so many jackasses posting on this forum. If you can't say something constructive or nice, why not keep your damn mouth shut. I am tired of all the negativity on this forum, we have enough to deal with in this world as it is. Ok, now I am finished with my venting. Have a great day and great shooting.

You're not exactly adding to the civility of discourse. The vast majority of us are polite and reasoning but there always seems to be that odd 10% in any group.

It seems like everywhere on the listserve sites you will run into snidely, negative, and pure nasty. What does this say about people as a whole. I suspect nothing has changed about people overall, it is just anyone can spew anonymously, without penalty. If you want to check out the depths, visit the UHH Attic. It is often pure retching.

There are a HUGE NUMBER of people on this forum. In any huge number of people there will be the good, the bad and the ugly. The best way to deal with it is to ignore the bad and the ugly.

You must be new to internet forums in general. Some are tightly policed, which is fine until you run afowl of the policing yourself. Some are all compliments and sweetness, but it gets tiresome. Others are savage free for alls, enter at your own risk. The UHH is a pretty good middle ground. Not too much policing, not too much scrapping. Most nastily argmentitive threads will wind up in the Attic. I stay out of the Chit Chat forum, too much politics. I stick with the Photography forums. Most people in the photography forums who get a nasty comment generally give back as good as they get, but it's not the norm.

Seriously, this is a public forum and for all intents and purposes it is anonymous to a great extent. All such forums seem to have pretty much the same problem. I am a member on several Gun Forums and the same happens on all of those. Etc.

I am not sure how it could be avoided. So just sit back, cool it, and disregard the idiots!

My, my, my, only 10 postings and already complaining. To answer your rhetorical question, because there can be, it's open to anyone and everyone. Now how can they keep their mouths shut when they are communicating via keyboard. If you don't like the negativity, you're not unlike a whole lot of other people. Difference is, we don't whine about it we just ignore it. UHH is kind of like television; if you don't like what's on a channel, change it to another.
