From the last few days. Seems there are more beetles around than earlier in the year, does that make sense?
I like Paul in the third photo. He's my favorite beetle.

Where are you living? They seemed to come late this year in California too. Probably because it has been too dry and too hot. I finally saw a Green Scarab Beetle and a June Bug Beetle in Mid-August.
How about Stu Sutcliffe and Pete Best?
Paul and his stunt doubles apparently!
Thanks for looking!

On Long Island NY. I don't know if they are later or not than usual - I didn't start looking until this year, but I didn't see many earlier in the year so I am just wondering if it is a natural part of seasonal progression that beetles appear later.
It has been very hot here too though, maybe not dry but with several long heat spells.

Makes sense. The beetles you are seeing now may have overwintered as eggs, and are now reaching adult. Or they way be second or third generation, and just becoming numerous. And they become most active as the year progresses, cold weather coming, got to procreate before too late. The odd men out look to be nymphs of bugs in the family Pentatomidae. Congratulations on your success on your trip, and welcome back.

Very nice pictures! I like your lighting.
The critters on queen Anne's lace are stink bug nymphs, or members of an allied family
Nice finds, I like the way you have composed the images. The last shot is my favourite.
Great series of beetle images. Love the level of detail and clarity of colors. I haven't seen any of these yet in my area so thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the kind words, sippy.
Especially meaningful given the gorgeous photos you have posted.
It's pretty amazing to see the variety of creatures out there, I had never seen any of these either until a few days ago!
