I use Faststone for resizing, batch processing, size, rename etc.
It does a great job with color correction Gamma corr, One shot HDR. Emailing groups of photos. Downloading from camera or scanner. Making slide shows. Sorting with tags. Multipage builder and on and on. Very handy!!!

Redford
Take a look at this photo of my Faststone Page.
I modified the suggested layout for myself. I found it difficult to find photos without names. So I used the date theme and added my own caveat. I used his suggestion for almost two years and found it difficult to work with as I needed. Your mileage will vary.
Have you turned on the TAG feature yet??

The second photo gives a further explanation about the left window. Note the Months with the dates taken with the identifiers (02 Red Sunsets)
I set up 5 years of months when I began and just roll over into the new years with the months already set up (Copy/Paste) in to the new year.
Good luck

Redford,
I just read this post of yours.
When you download a photo from the Internet, you can save it directly to your My Pictures Folder and the Y/M/D you choose or a Temp folder. Then I know where it is or I have a Download from-------- on my Desktop then decide where I want to go with it.

The owner ask that we be very selective about the (save original image) button due to the space issue. And try to use it only on panoramic pictures and others that may have undesirable effects from re-sizing. I noticed it cause some of my pictures are long and skinny.

2255 and 2256 from the screen on the top, I think they might be the photos I've been looking for. My brain is geared to cross my eyes to auto scan entire collections instantly for possible 3 D SBS photos. I compare the pictures next to each other then I refocus comparing every other picture and so on.
There were a couple more but none spoke to me like the set of pics of the object in 2255 I'm sorry if this is not the proper forum for this post. But it's rare to glimpse a set of photographer pic's all in a row like that.

What ? And give you all my best stuff ?

OK - only a Brit can rise to the challenge ... I'll get the bike out.

BTW - good question RedRocket.

And only a Brit would make a statement like this. I don't have a problem with giving this type of information. I could lend you my camera and lens set up with everything the same and you probably could not duplicate the photo that I had taken! So much depends on the photographers skills, not his equipment, but then I am guessing you know that. If you don't, or didn't, you should have.

The chances of his skills being as bad as mine aren't very good, LOL!

Where are you going on your bike?
