Your transformed photos have lost their meaning as photographs, to me. They look more like graphic artists renditions than photos. I prefer the photographic look even when post processed heavely. If you want to be a graphic artist, then you are on your way. Check yourself, which do you like most to look at....the visuals you presented here or the originals? It all depends on what you want to do. The, I bet cute little girl is no longer cute in the above rendering and the man at the bottom no longer looks like a real person, but an artists cartoon. There is plenty you can do in post processing that enhanses the photographic qualities without destroying them. You have made a start with the middle photograph. Hope I haven't been too heavy handed....Dan

Clarence -

I enjoy "photoshopping" rather than photographing at this point as I am having a ball discovering what these programs can do. I must get over that and get back to learning about my Nikon 300s, that is too much camera for me.

That being said,

#1 - I don't think that your use of the filter(s) improve your photo at all.

#2 - The vignetting (though a bit too much of it) does draw your eye to the center of interest. However, the underlying image needs more pop, more saturation. Try a dark vignette for this image.

#3 - I like this filter better - though the image is now an image, not a photograph, to me.

Thanks for your comments. I am trying new and different things. I will try a dark vignette, just to see what happens. You are right, doing this does destroy their photographic value.

It might destroy the photographic value, but I do most of my work in Photoshop, not in the camera.

Here are some examples.

Photographic value? BAH HUMBUG!!!!!! If they started out phpographs they still are photographs. You think ansel adams photos are "natural"? He dodgeg burned and used every darkroom trick in the book. The re is no difference between doing that and using photoshop other than whith a computer you aren't breathing in possibly caronegenic developer fumes like in a darkroom. Strubles those three are photographs, any of which I would be proud to hang on my walls. In fact yoour black and white is giving me an inferiority complex. If you see my ego tell him to come home. Clarence although I dont particualry care for those three PHOTOS i will defend your right to express your vision by any means neccesary. What is spooky is photo #3. Put wire rim glasses on the subject and that's me. obviously my evil twin skippy escaped from the lab again.

Ok, here's my nickel's worth (2 cents isn't what it used to be!): I think this is nothing short of ART! I agree with SM, I'd be so happy to have any of these on my wall, especially the b&w. Art is about mastering technique, as well as creativity, and you certainly have done that, my friend!!

Well, everyone. You have made my day... You have made me happy down to my toes. There is a great big smile on my face. Thank you.

I use CS5 for my work, occasionally other programs too. These photos were all done strictly with cs5.

If you want any details about how I do these things, give me your email addresses. As I have some time, I will share.

Ready for another one? Just sending one... I don't want to run out.

I hope you are all safe from the storm. :)
