tiff png paint.net and pse

I use paint.net and pse for editing. I find some things easier to do with paint.net and some things easier to do with pse.

Is there a downside if I do some editing in one program, save it in the tiff format, and then do more editing with the other program?

Same question with the png format.

It shouldn't be a problem. Both TIFF and PNG are standard formats.

Downside? Yes... it takes longer.

If that's true I can live with it.

I don't think it's always true. When I find it easier do edit #1 in program A, and edit #2 in program B it takes less time.
