I just checked his last couple of posts, to see if they/he had improved. Alas, he is NOT a fine wine... no improvement with age. To help preserve my last, tenuous vestige of sanity, I hit the "ignore" button. Instantly, I felt better.
On the much more interesting subject of Memory Card Failure.
I agree with those who have commented on failure mitigation measures and root cause analysis... ultimately, any potential failure root cause can be mitigated if money and time is no object. For those who need to earn a living through photography, while not crapping out on a commission, the most likely root causes are mitigated by backup solutions (e.g. cards, bodies, lenses, batteries, chargers, other essential items for specific commissions, etc.), and by regular depreciation and disposal of "used items".
Suggesting myself as an example, I depreciate and dispose of my photography gear as follows:
CF and SD Cards (all my bodies have 1 CF and 1 SD slot) - 1 year (I buy 32 Gb cards currently)
Bodies - 3 years (currently, I'm buying a new 5D Mk IV and 7D Mk II every 18 months on rotation, so I have at least 1 body of each under warranty and 1 used between 13 & 18 months, at any given time)
Lenses - 5 years (as in bodies, duplicates/upgrades purchased every 24-36 months)
Everything Else - 3 years or as commission usage dictates. I synchronize my hardware budget with my Canon contract and find this series of calendar events easy to manage; I'm also unlikely ever to be seriously "down" at any commission.
