I remember the moment from years ago, a great steam tractor rolled to a halt a couple of feet from me. The two operator running around the giant, twirling the valves open and causing the beast to rumble, gasp, and finally wheeze to silence. They had to release all the pressure being built up by a vapor lock. I had to admire and appreciate the speed at which they did that. "It was just an exercise." I have seen many photos of blown boilers.
I recall Steamrollers being used in the late 1950s and early 60s. Even as a young lad, I found them impressive. (No pun intended.
