Took my new lens out for a test drive to the Rocky Mountain Wildlife Refuge & The Broomfield Library Pond. All images were cropped & straightened in PP. I realize the Hawk is soft, but I got so excited I just couldn't hold the dad gummed camera steady as he was my first Hawk image ever. Some were shot with my crop 80D & others with my 5D Mk IV. Please let me know what you members think in improving my images because that's how I learn.
I have to say I'm thus far thrilled with this lens, and thanks in advanced for your constructive criticism.

Michael, first off the set of photos is great. The hawk is a Red Shouldered Hawk going by his eye color and I understand the excitement. I have the same lens and I love it also. I upgraded from the original to the Vii just recently. Many of our friends on UHH use a Canon L TC 1.4 Viii with this lens and get the same level of sharpness and color. Other member's photos can show you the capabiity.

Thank you Greg for the nice comments and I do have the Canon 1.4 TC, however it's the version II, which I'm going to try on my next outing on a tri-pod because I don't do well at longer focal lengths due to old age tremors. The hawk was about 30-40 yards away at a bad angle and I was trying to shoot from my car window on the road, as I was in the Bison enclosure and people are not allowed to leave their cars. How I would have loved to slip out and used the hood or roof as a support. I do believe the image would have been sharper. The bee and dragonfly were my first ever's too, so I can indeed say it was a wonderful day.😊

Thank you Tom. From my use thus far it's by far one of the nicest lenses I have. I don't think you will be disappointed.
Looks like you're going to really enjoy your lens. Lots of subjects. Keep having fun.
