As magnificent as New Mexico is in any season, it is way more appealing when we have rain. Everything changes, becomes softer, more fragrant, more alluring. I still had an elbow full of prickly pear spines, but I was happy about it.

Very pretty! Hope the spines are out of your elbow. I have a vivid memory of my Dad lying face down on the car seat while Mom plucked barrel cactus spines out of his skin - he squatted onto the cactus while getting the perfect yucca flower photo.

I like them all. I rarely take the time to notice the small details. You remind me that I should take that time.

Ouch. I can totally imagine this. But what a vivid thing to remember! No I still have tiny spines reminding me of what a perfect day it was. And in the canyon far below, the creek was finally rushing.

Yes, you should. For me this wasn't a day for landscapes: Too overcast, raining even. But when I found this sodden prickly pear with its ripening fruit framing the beautiful scenery below, I knew I had to do it justice.

I'm going to have to try and visit the desert when there's been rain. It's been very dry the few SW trips we made. A very different look in your photos.

Yes, a very different feel to the landscape, the difference between survival mode and celebration mode. It was actually too rainy for me to stay out long. My dog and I were soaked and chilled! It's good to know that wildlife has access to water now without having to travel long distances. Animals can now drink from depressions in the rocks. Thanks for your interest.

Fabulous group of images. All are beauties, but my personal fave is the last one.

Thanks. The last one was the one I really wanted to share but for some reason I had a heck of a time getting it to upload. I'm glad I persisted.
