Can anyone comment on the Sigma 18-300 f3.5-6.3 lens for sports. I am currently using a Canon ef70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS II USM and am quite satisfied with it for college soccer, but the Sigma would allow a wider focal spread. Yes, I know the Canon L lenses are best for sports, but I sold my 70-200 f2.8 because I couldn't justify that much money wrapped up for just 3-4 months of college soccer which is about all I use the lens for. Wondering if the Sigma is fast focusing for sports, sharp and with good color. I have read many, many reviews and haven't seen much addressing it's use for sports.

If you want fast moving sports IN FOCUS - you want a Canon lens - it is that simple.

I agree

Thanks Old Timer and imagemeister. Guess that explains why none of the reviews mentioned sports. I do love my Canon ef70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS II USM for the price, weight and image quality. Just limited when the soccer player is by me at the near sidelines.
