Tokina 11-16mm vs. Tokina 11-20mm

Recently, Kenko decided to upgrade this venerable optic, and chose to add 4mm in length, at the same time. There had been some reports of CA in the older model. Was this problem resolved in the upgrade? ... Does anyone here have both lenses? ... If so, could you let us know what you think? Thanks!!!

Kenko owns Tokina? That's a surprise.

I doubt they would make the lens worse, so we're getting a little more reach. I'll wait for reviews before making a decision, but I suspect it will be a fine lens.

They are a combined company ... as your link, shows ...

The 11-20 has been out a while, Jerry ... I'm sure there are plenty of reviews around, on the Net, by now ...

But, someone here, just, recently - made me aware of the CA problem, when the 11-16 is used wide open at it's widest ....

Since I had not known that, heretofore ... decided to get it out, there ...

Thanks for your input, Jerry ...

BTW .. I think of the Kenko-Tokina teaming - kinda like - Ricoh-Pentax ... but, it's not in the same vein - really ...

Folks, it would be nice if you didn't use abbreviations (e.g., "CA") without defining them first. Often drives me nuts trying to figure out what they mean. I have no idea what CA is (chromatic aberration is the only guess I can make?).

And, you would be right, Appeal ... a very good guess ... of course - those who own this lens, and also live in CA - have a DUAL CA problem!!!!

I have the 14-20mm f2. Little heavy but a great lens.

Sounds like it, Moto ... wow!!! ... f2, huh?

So, what are you using it on? ... Must be FF, huh?

I didn't even know there WAS one!!!!

No purple fringing, then ... when it's wide open, at 14mm - huh?

Have to take a look at that!!! ... Tokina make some GREAT lenses, don't they, Moto?

I only have 2 tokinas, this one is dx like the other two f2.8 lenses. It's on a D7200 so I went for the f2 since my 1.8 did noticeable better than my 2.8 at night but just wasn't wide enough. No fringing.

Oh, I see, Moto ... so you have it on a D7200, do you?

Yes, I've noticed that ... no real discernible difference between f1.8 and f2 ... both seem to be equally light-capable ...

Good to know you have no CA problems with it ... good for you!!!!

Refreshing to see a company supporting APS-C format with a lens of these specs.
