Very nice & natural. IMHO it would have been better without the strongly out-of-focus flower head at her knee and the single stalk coming up pass her elbow, but that is being somewhat picky.

Thanks! And that's sometimes the flipside of natural light & natural beauty portraiture. In the light offered by the Man Upstairs, I needed to strike that eternal triangle balance between aperture, shutter speed, and capturing those photons with the sensitivity needed to achieve the concept. On this image? Close, but no cigar... missed the Series, and ended up in the pile of Nearlies.

Bathing in sunlight ... hands well posed.

Thanks! And a World-class model knows how to pose, in every aspect; I love working with these professionals! It's always enjoyable, every time it's a collaboration, and I find myself chatting and laughing, much more than asking for specific poses... I think the collaboration always shows?

A beautiful image of a stunningly naked woman! Lighting is perfect, and the pose is likewise.

Rich...

Thanks Rich! Pose = Super Model! Lighting = The Man Upstairs, take a bow! I'm just the idiot on the other side of the lens, with the finger on the shutter button.

Steak is a blurred blade of grass... a very easy retouch using the healing brush or a few others in PSD- a two second fix.. i imagine you had more flower heads cropped out, use one to replace knee flower, as I kinda like it there, perhaps add a few more heads from off crop, to support the DOF effect- just one or two... and the one stalk touching her elbow so it does not touch... Note I have nothing to say about her- she should be very proud of such a successful image/pose/exposure/focus/tasteful/etc... perhaps only the rough stubble in her bikini area made slightly less apparent- not completely removed as the rest of her skin is quite flawless.. - but that is all.

These 'SUGGESTIONS' are nit picky no doubt... as I think is is very successful as is.

Nice job

Thanks! And yes, the suggestions are all valid; you have a very positive critical eye!

I love what the 50mm f/1.2 has done with this image. Good job.

Thanks, I've had other photographers (including some professionals) ask me why I use such a huge, clunky, expensive 50mm lens. Yes, the f/1.2L is ALL of those things... and, it's not that easy to use, too. But, once learned, it can provide wonderful perspective, balance, and a stunning immersion and realism to a photograph. I hope these (and other images I've submitted using this lens) have gone a little way to showcasing what a superb lens this is?

Thanks All, for your very positive feedback. I'm pleased you liked this portrait, as I really enjoy this genre (Natural Light & Natural Beauty Boudoir Portraiture). Of course, most of the credit goes to the wonderful models I get to collaborate with, and The Man Upstairs who is ALWAYS supremely reliable in providing interesting lighting for my shoots.

Very nice … personally I might use a reflector to add some contrast /fill … the lighting seems a bit flat.

She and the pose are classic. I think if this were in grey scale/black & white or sepia it would look vintage. Nothing wrong with color.

I did notice a couple of what appear to be bruises on her left forearm that could be PP out of photo.

Great shot regardless of my comments.

No, you are not "the idiot" you make out to be...You recognize what the "man upstairs" is giving you, and you used it, and as for the super model, you made her feel comfortable in her nakedness, so that you could record the image you wanted. That, my friend, is not being an idiot!

Great composition and lighting. I'm curious if you shot at f/1.2 intentionally to put her right side out of focus. Her left breast and arm are more in focus.

Sorry, only just realized I had a new question here. Yes, the wide open shot was intentional. As the natural lighting was a little challenging at that time, I opted to shoot at f/1.2 so I could preserve the lowest possible ISO and use DOF to create a more dimensional representation of the subject.

As I think a couple of people have pointed out, without the benefit of any secondary light source or bounce screen / card, there is a tendency for this angle of model and photographer, together with the available light, to produce a “flat” Image.

I believe this approach gave me the chance to show to the viewer some detail around the subject, with visual suggestions (motifs for the plant life?) in foreground and background, to help reference the Model with the maximum dimensional perspective. Had I lived in the mid to late Nineteenth Century, my approach would have likely given my critics the chance to append “PRB” to my work. 😉

An art nude portrait from a recent late afternoon & early evening shoot. The weather was very warm and muggy, with sun and thunderclouds combining to make interesting (or challenging, depending upon your point of view!) Natural Light Portraiture conditions.

My concept was Natural Light, Natural Beauty Artistic & Implied Nude. By utilizing the Arbovitae and the wild flowers and grasses, I hope I pulled off an interesting and beautiful effect; here is a Nearly from the Series?

Her pose, and facial expression makes me think of her in a shower stall.
