In the mid to early to mid 1900's Shell Oil Company built some unique service stations. I am not sure where all of them were but I know there were several in and around Winston Salem North Carolina. Here is a photo of the only one left that I know of.

I went to UNC-Greensboro and remember very well finding that Shell Station. Took a photo of it in the '70's. Glad to see it is still there.

This was actually a working service station at one time, but now is just gentle reminder of times gone by. It is still there on the corner of Sprague and Peachtree St. in Winston Salem N.C. I do remember one exactly like it in Kernersville N.C. which is about ten miles away but it has been long gone.
